Alex Jones - The Obama Deception - Page 16

Author: Edward L Winston
Added: August 18th, 2009

This is page sixteen of my discussion on the Alex Jones film The Obama Deception. If you were linked here by mistake, please refer to page one of this article, which contains the introduction.

[Alex Jones]
Barack Obama swore that he would vote to repeal the PATRIOT Act, but then he voted for its reauthorization. Obama decried the Bush administration's illegal warrantless wiretapping of the American people. Then he voted to legalize it.

Obama said he "would revisit the PATRIOT Act to ensure that there is real and robust oversight of tools like National Security Letters, sneak-and-peek searches and the use of the material witness provision." He's taken no action yet for or against as of August 2, 2009[290].

As for the wiretaps, as I explained the beginning of this article, he did promise to end warrantless wiretaps, and he's yet to take any action on the matter, for or against, as of August 2nd, 2009[28].

[Webster Tarpley]
Obama pledged that he would filibuster any attempt to give retroactive immunity to the telephone companies, the telecom companies. Except, he then turned around and voted for that bill.

It's true, in February 2008, Obama flip-flopped on his original stance for this bill[291].

[Gerald Celente]
Most people don't know, for example, that he voted to reinstate the PATRIOT Act and more government wiretapping.

In 2005 Obama voted in the Senate against the PATRIOT Act, but in 2006 he did indeed vote for the reauthorization[292][293].

[Alex Jones]
Candidate Obama told desperate factory workers in speech after speech that he was going to renegotiate NAFTA and GATT to make it more fair for American workers.

[Barack Obama]
It is absolutely true that NAFTA was a mistake.

Obama stated that he was critical of NAFTA, and never mentioned GATT[29].

[Alex Jones]
But then his campaign was caught sending out memos to top corporate leaders, telling them not to worry and that it was just campaign rhetoric.

[Webster Tarpley]
We had Obama saying, "You know, I'm against free trade, I don't like NAFTA and all those free trade sellouts." We had Austan Goolsbee going to the Canadian diplomats and saying, "Don't, don't mind him. He's just popping off. That's just election era rhetoric. It doesn't mean anything."

[News Anchor]
Presidential candidate Barack Obama was publicly criticizing the North American Free Trade Agreement in a bid for votes, but privately telling Canadian officials not to worry about it.

The situation was actually quite different - CTV misreported what was said in the original memo, and after the situation was resolved the Canadian officials had apologized and it became clear there was no evidence that Goolsbee, Rioux, or Wilson had described Obama's position as posturing only[294b-d].

This brings up the same point that I often make: Alex Jones says the media is nothing but a barrel of lies, so it's interesting that he completely trusts it when its in his favor, but if it isn't, it's simply a lie.

[George Humphrey]
He said that he was going to bring us peace in the Middle East.

He never promised peace in the Middle East, George Humprey must be thinking of Jimmy Carter, who promised to make peace in the Middle East a top priority. Obviously peace in the Middle East doesn't rest on just America, but every country there, as well as the biggest players in the game Palestine and Israel[297][298].

He said that he was going to bring us transparency and a balanced economy.

Much of his transparency related promise have yet to have any action regarding them, however as of August 2nd, 2009:

He was working on:

  • Create a consumer-friendly credit card rating system[299]
  • Establish an independent health institute to provide accurate and objective information[300]
  • Encourage community service through online outreach and social networking[301]
  • Create a national declassification center[302]
  • Increase protections for whistleblowers[303]

He has followed through with:

  • Release presidential records[304]
  • Ban lobbyist gifts to executive employees[305]
  • Go "line by line" over earmarks to make sure money being spent wisely (compromise)[306]
  • No signing statements to nullify instructions from Congress (compromise)[307]

He broke the promise of:

  • Allow five days of public comment before signing bills[308]
  • Negotiate health care reform in public sessions televised on C-SPAN[309]

As for the "balanced economy" part; as per Obama's economic promises, many have yet to have any action upon them, but as of August 2nd, 2009:

He was working on:

  • Increase the capital gains and dividends taxes for higher-income taxpayers[310]
  • Create a $60 billion bank to fund roads and bridges[311]
  • Create new financial regulations[312]

He has followed through with:

  • Create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners[313]
  • Expand loan programs for small businesses[314]
  • Extend unemployment insurance benefits and temporarily suspend taxes on these benefits[315]
  • Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses and start-ups (compromise)[316]

He broke the promise of:

  • Create a $3,000 tax credit for companies that add jobs[317]
  • Allow penalty-free hardship withdrawals from retirement accounts in 2008 and 2009[318]

What do these guys care about Obama's economic plans, as far as they've told us, it's "socialism", if anything they want him to break his promises regarding it - yet again if it works in their favor, they'll say anything they have to.

He said that he was going to not have, have lobbyists.

Actually he said he was going to ban lobbyist gifts to executive employees, and he did[305].

He said he was going to clean up government.

Redundant, see transparency above.

He said he was going to work for the environment.

Obama made several  environmental promises, actually almost 60, and while most he has yet to act on, some are in the works. As of August 2nd, 2009:

He was working on:

  • Increase funding for organic and sustainable agriculture[319]
  • Improve climate change data records[320]
  • Create 5 million "green" jobs[321]
  • Create clean coal partnerships[322]
  • Work with UN on climate change[323]
  • Create cap and trade system with interim goals to reduce global warming[324]
  • Make buildings more energy efficient[325]
  • Require more energy-efficient appliances[326]
  • Reduce energy consumption in federal buildings[327]
  • Require federal fleet to be half hybrids or electrical cars by 2012[328]
  • Provide grants to encourage energy-efficient building codes[329]

He has followed through with:

  • Remove more brush, small trees and vegetation that fuel wildfires[330]
  • Invest in all types of alternative energy[331]
  • Phase out incandescent light bulbs (compromise)[332]

And point, by point, by point, within the first month of his inauguration, he has lied, and deceived, and cheated the American people.

I didn't realize the entire 4 years of a president's administration takes place in the first month of being in office. Obama made 515 notable promises on the campaign trail and to believe that all can be done in the first month...I don't even know how to respond to such stupidity.
