First problem: it makes claims of what's in the bill without ever referencing where it is or the context.

They really just make a list of claims and their followers automatically believe it, don't they?

For some reason the Infowars article links you to the House version, so here's the actual version: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s111-510

>> 1. It puts all US food and all US farms under Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, in the event of contamination or an ill-defined emergency. It resembles the Kissinger Plan.

It simply puts the jurisdiction for law enforcement under Homeland Security in certain areas, so?

>> 2. It would end US sovereignty over its own food supply by insisting on compliance with the WTO, thus threatening national security. It would end the Uruguay Round Agreement Act of 1994, which put US sovereignty and US law under perfect protection.

This item has been struck out and removed, but the idea was that this act would stay in line with treaties already established

>> 3. It would allow the government, under Maritime Law, to define the introduction of any food into commerce (even direct sales between individuals) as smuggling into “the United States.”

Sovereign citizen conspiracy shit.

>> 4. It imposes Codex Alimentarius on the US, a global system of control over food.

First you have to believe all of the bullshit going on about Codex Alimentarius, all of which is false. The reason that Infowars doesn't show you the context is because:

1) It's only for food imported from overseas.
2) It was struck out in the latest version, meaning it's not even going be included.

>> 5. It would remove the right to clean, store and thus own seed in the US, putting control of seeds in the hands of Monsanto and other multinationals, threatening US security.

Isn't it funny that they link you to some older article instead of showing you where in the bill it actually states this? The bill doesn't mention this at all, it's bullshit.

>> 6. It includes NAIS, an animal traceability program that threatens all small farmers and ranchers raising animals.

Yes, the $1 registration fee will put small farmers out of business, 5 years on and I'm still waiting for that... just like I've been waiting for all of CT's predictions.

>> 7. It extends a failed and destructive HACCP to all food, thus threatening to do to all local food production and farming what HACCP did to meat production – put it in corporate hands and worsen food safety.

Struck out again, but failed? Uh... not even close. Then again, these are the same peopl e who claim the Codex will ban vitamins by making them required, their logic is already faulty.

>> 8. It deconstructs what is left of the American economy.

I thought that was already under UN control? Oh, only when it fits your narrative, oh okay.

>> 9. It would allow the government to mandate antibiotics, hormones, slaughterhouse waste, pesticides and GMOs.

This is only a problem if you believe in conspiracy and unscientific garbage about these things. I couldn't find anything about this anyway, aside from a requirement that they been identified given certain prerequisites, but again, this was struck out.

>> 10. It uses food crimes as the entry into police state power and control. The bill postpones defining all the regulations to be imposed; postpones defining crimes to be punished, postpones defining penalties to be applied. It removes fundamental constitutional protections from all citizens in the country, making them subject to a corporate tribunal with unlimited power and penalties, and without judicial review.

Interesting, still no sources on where this comes from. Corporate tribunal? Whoops, we've got more sovereign citizen garbage.

--

So it's a bill where the items are either 1) bullshit, 2) struck out, 3) not actually a big deal. Most of them, however, are simply struck out, in the words of one CT "did anyone bother to actually read the bill?"

Great analysis, Edward. I didn't notice that they linked to the House version. *facepalm*

So does that mean if there were an emergency of some sort, it would be handled by Homeland Security? Who would handle an emergency like that prior to this bill?

I think right now it's a bit murky, and that's why it's defining it. The USDA co-operates with the CDC and/or FBI/ATF depending on various things, so you see the reason for defining who has jurisdiction. I think it's a shame it's HLS though, that's the most disorganized department in all of government.

What was the Kissinger Plan? I know that CTers like the say that he wanted to use food as a weapon. What are they talking about anyways?

The "Kissinger Plan" was actually a report he wrote up about making proper alliances with people via food trade, meaning that it would be a _bad idea_ to trade with people that are sympathetic to say, the USSR, PRC, Cuba, etc, and instead should trade with people that are either on the fence (to bring them to our side) or people who are already on our side so they won't go for Communist support. It's a totally cold war mindset, of getting people on your side, keeping them on your side, in order to prevent more nations from succumbing to Communism.

The "food as a weapon" thing is total bullshit and takes not only the report but history out of context and ignores everything.

The same reason they use mass-media as proof then claim mass-media only lies.
