Merola leaps from fringe ideology to fringe ideology. He used to be a Paultard like VTV, which is a rightwing libertardian fundamentalist free market ideology. Now they are Zeitards which might be considered leftwing due to the abolishment of private property. But there's also a lot of authoritarianism as well, which is usually considered to be on the rightwing.

The particular politics aren't important, all that is important is that the current chosen ideology goes against the mainstream. It has to be outrageous. That's as deep (or shallow) as their politics go.

His abnormal obsession with the environment and his obvious contempt for the wealthy makes him sound like a total moonbat. As Matt said, his support of Ron Paul gives him an inkling of leaning right, though listening to the video Matt posted in another thread, his ideas have an authoritarian, Stalin-esque overtone. Then throw in all the conspiracy crap and you've got one confused individual.

I personally think he's just a closet Marxist. Just because he says he isn't doesn't excuse him from his Marxist ideas like eliminating private property, abolishing all religion, and ending what he calls the "traditional family."

It's never as clear cut as left or right, like many others he's probably just a confused guy adjusting his ideologies as he goes along.

If a nationalist is right wing, and a socialist is left wing, wtf is a Nazi?! (Besides an arsehole)

Well neo nazis tend to be on the extreme right, and most hold some nationalistic views such as groups like "Christian Identity". Also I'm pretty sure the Nazi party was quite nationalist, they thought German people were superior to everyone else and that their country should rule Europe.

I think the Nazis called themselves National Socialists to appeal to the working class of Germany. It has no deeper significance than that.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

To have right wing commentators agreeing with ZM and saying that it's not fair to say ZI can be blamed, is really something. Interesting how many are actually not being nasty about ZM much at all.

I'm actually starting to doubt that this will hurt ZM long term. I think this is going to be more of a Catcher in the Rye situation (i.e., more people read the book after it was correlated to a shooter).

This might give you a better idea:

Economical and social issues are put on a different scale. You can be authoritarian right(Neo-Cons), authoritarian left, (Stalinist Communist), and Fascism is actually closer to authoritarian center.
