Yes, I do hate it when a cockroach just won't die. Especially when it comes in the form of post-modern hippie utopian shitty movies.

I have to disagree, both "Beyond the pale" and "Behold a pale horse" are well established idioms that have separate origins and meanings. They both just work really well for cranks.

1. beyond the pale
The phrase "beyond the pale" dates back to the 14th century, when the part of Ireland that was under English rule was delineated by a boundary made of such stakes or fences, and known as the English Pale. To travel outside of that boundary, beyond the pale, was to leave behind all the rules and institutions of English society, which the English modestly considered synonymous with civilization itself.

1. Behold a Pale Horse
The title is from the Bible, Revelation 6:8: "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him...."

To similar in name. I'm going to take a stab and say that "Beyond the Pale" was possibly in reference to "Behold a Pale Horse" phrase within the bible (for the time at least). I don't think it's to far-fetched to think it's a possibility. I'm just not sure how else one would randomly come up with a phrase like that and I can't think of any other phrase similar to that.

Well, thanks for reading. I'm glad you enjoy it, if not agree with it (is there much to agree with?). Read my first couple, those are my favorite. Since then my writing has gone the way of TZM- down the tubes.
