Here is a question for the members/former members of TZM (there sure are a lot of you guys in here now):

What do the local chapters (according to Wikipedia there are 41 official regional chapters and 42 official U.S. state chapters) of the Zeitgeist Movement actually do? Do they really meet in real life or just online? If they do, what goes on at their meetings? If someone was banned from the main site, would they be kicked out of their chapter?

@Sky as I have never considered myself apart of the zeitgeist movement/venus project, I did attend the Ohio chapter meetings since I live in Ohio.

>>What do the local chapters (according to Wikipedia there are 41 official regional chapters and 42 official U.S. state chapters) of the Zeitgeist Movement actually do?<<

Their main objective is to get a lot of people, a typical meeting for the Ohio chapter would be on teamspeak 3 would be basically to go through a list of things. It can be quite boring at times to go through the list but I mean that's what you gotta do because it'll help someone. basically the meetings are all about comnig up with ideas EX: write the zeitgeist website on the back of a dollar bill <--- that's illegal, or they have started up a book club within the ohio chapter but it's not a typical book club because one person will read a book out loud catch it on a record then send that record to other so that do not have to read the book but listen to the audio version from someone else then during the meeting they''ll ask if they read the book of the week and talk about it.

Then We'd usually go over way to think about getting more people into the zeitcult movement. A lot fo the ways is persuasive talking and wordsmithing/verbal tricks so people don't think it's socialism. They go over ways to present the information, when not to present what to say when this is said to you that sort of thing but mainly hand out dvd's and pamphlets.

If someone went to any of Fresco's meetings they will usually get the floor to brag about meeting Fresco and Peter Merola and brag about it.

towards the end of the meeting it's FAQ, ideas or as Fresco syas mental masturbation.

Each chapter has some sort of website that at least I myself never go too (link below). This website has a lot of stuff going on and a calendar of when he next meeting will be.

http://chapters.thezeitgeistmovement.com/oh/</p>

other than that not much ever goes on in the team speak 3 meetings besides talking about ways to get more people into it.

>>Do they really meet in real life or just online? <<

A long story short they do meet in real life but I've never met them in real life mainly because the meetings are held in locations that are far away from me. From what I have been told they hand out DVD's and pamphlets and you know the cult drill spread awareness.

>>If someone was banned from the main site, would they be kicked out of their chapter?<<

Long story short yes. If your banned anywhere, your also banned from your chapter.

I'd like to throw in something that i think the Ohio chapter has good intentions and I stuck around to learn and try to find people interested in automation. In the end of my spiel learning about TZM before the global bann, I wasn't throwing around terms like cult just yet but I really have problems when I talk to someone and they say soemthing like this to me "Hey Bill I met Peter Merola's girlfriend, I think me and her are getting along great, if I get to be good friends with her then I'm a shoe in to meet Peter Merola and become good friends with him.". it just doesn't happen with one person just about everybody their speak or thinks that way, in a cultish mentality, like worshiping a god, and they even quote peter Merola and Jacque Fresco some even do it for Roxanne like their the bible and when fresco dies it'll just impound the problem and cause a hell of a lot of conspiracy theory's in the zeitgeist movement/venus project cult.

to be honest i had no clue people believed in this crap. I was simply shocked coming upon this. In Conspiracy Science forums i'm learning a lot about Alex Jones BS as well was zeitgeist shitte, i have to say Alex Jones is way worse many many many times over just for the fact that the guy has more followers. The zeitcultis worse in the fact that it's border line a cult and the people the zeitcult has are basically brain washed.

--------------

I was more apart of the developers group in the Zeitcult movement the one that broke off from the Zeitcult movement and formed RBOSE.

A few do RL stuff, like handing out flyers or making ads or sth, but I think most is based online, discussing topics and building websites.

I dunno what they actually do, but I'd assume it's the same that went on on my meetings about neomarxism, you sit together and talk about how the future could be if X.

Captain Ferseus: The movies aren't the movement!
Here, take these DVDs!

@Captain Ferseus LOL I've said this before but saying the Zeitgeist the movie and Zeitgeist addendum aren't the movement is like saying their is no relation between the amount a plant grows in relation to the amount of light the plant gets. The movies obviously go hand it hand with the movement, denying that fact such as Peter Merola did because it'll make his Zeitgeist Movement/Venus Project into a conspiracy theorist cult makes him out to be a liar and at that shows an example of how much control Peter Merola has with his Zeitcult movement drones, he can make people with the zeitgeist movement believe anything... I find this disturbing

> Do they really meet in real life or just online?

Yes they meet in real life too.

I went to a London meeting myself, around 30+ folk there, but sadly few interested in doing anything practical, instead if someone suggests making a list of things to do, everyones for that...

I did bump into a millionaire who came to the meeting, it seemed as if I was the only person interested in chatting to them for some reason.. (They had some good advice, which I followed..)

There are a lot of online meetings too, I've been to countless ones of those..

I noticed, chatting to folk that people spend a lot of money going to meetings, I once worked out that if instead of paying for public transport/etc. if the money was instead invested in building our own velomobiles and they was used as free taxi's, that the money we would overwise have wasted on transport, we could end up with our own small fleet of taxi's and help provide an income for those with them, and reduce our future travel costs..

But no one was really interested in such a practical idea..

I also noted, that my estimate is Z folk have already spent $1 to $2 million going to meetings, seeing Fresco/PJ, money which could have been spent at the very least, buying Fresco's home..

> what goes on at their meetings?

Usually very little..

If you miss one, your probably not going to miss anything important sadly.

Lots of talk about how to push the word..

Though there are a few odd fellows who want to do practical stuff, but its not encouraged. (And now offically very much not encouraged..)

> If someone was banned from the main site, would they be kicked out of their chapter?

The last time I heard this asked, the offical answer was that no you wouldn't be kicked from the local chapter..

But as you know, the rules do rather change quickly :-)

Like many organisations, meetings are often very non-productive, and focus often on the wrong things. (Eg. ways to spend money, rather than to make money, so you have more to spend..)

As such I don't go to many meetings now, having really given them plenty of oppertunity, they are for all practical purposes, a waste of time.

A big missed oppertunity in my view, as we could do so much with the people and resources we have, but they are being wasted.

Almost as if someone doesn't want us to get organised and fix things...

Though my money is just on stupidity :-(

"I also noted, that my estimate is Z folk have already spent $1 to $2 million going to meetings"

I also noticed that, the whole global lecture is a huge waste of money. I did 3 longer "online seminars" in the past, we used 3 lines for about 1,5k people on the biggest and got really good feedback, just the missing networking element made it hard to charge as much as for "real" seminars.

But as TVP isn't about "getting" money, that's a non-issue, just buy a modern set for a few grand, 2-3 webcams and you have your global lecture tour.

Tell people that there's only so much space and thus you have to charge, but that the money is used for X, "X" being something practical that people can agree with.

You probably won't make a million this way, unless you establish a backend, but let's say you get a .5 conversion rate from 400k members for 30 bucks, which is a pretty low estimate from my point of view. That's $60,000 - we clearly couldn't do anything useful with that money, could we? /irony

I also don't get why they attack millionaires or rich guys all the time, as if staying poor would be some morally superior state.

Spread the word basically. The regional chapters is where the street activism takes place.

My biggest problem with TZM is that it's wasting a lot of teenagers' time. They're going to look back and wish they didn't hate government, society, and education.

You know, people handing out pamphlets to passer-by.

Which then end up in a landfill.

Thanks TZM!

Street activism like meeting up in the local bar or community centre and talking about how the future is going to look, and how big things are on the horizon for zeitgeisters when everyone in the world believes them ?

I suggested that they should make flyers out of edible paper (Perhaps chocolate flavoured..) then it wouldn't have to end up in landfill..

Recordable DVD's could be reused..

Or you could squeeze the message down onto a CD at least.

Neither of which are very eco-friendly mind you..

They ought to make the fliers out of toilet paper so that people can reuse them.
