Restarting it here because Nanos ruined the old one.

http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=99999&func=view&catid=231&id=297892#297916

Note a couple of comments earlier, where Voice of Reason cut-and-pastes my comments on his blog:

http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=99999&func=view&catid=231&id=297892#297892

He edited my comments very subtlely. For instance I use Merola's actual name in my post, and VOR changes it to "Peter Joseph."

Not significant in changing meaning, but it's a telling detail. Merola has such tight message discipline that his defenders don't even use his name! I find that rather amusing.

Carry on.

Mod27 seems to be pretty active closing all threads containing criticism of the movement, yet he tells me it's not up to him to reopen anything, but to the global mods.

I find this management strategy kinda revealing, anybody can close threads if he likes to, but only global mods can allow critical discourse?

Mod27 is Thunder

I never got that people had a problem when I said Peter Merola and someone asked me why I say his last name? I say that it happens to be his last name I don't get why their is such a problem with it, it's his last name.

@CS not sure what JREF is. He's the thunder that does the zradio thing as well as he fill in for Peter Merola when Peter can't do his shows.

There's a thunder there who used to be a major CT and an absolutely horrible debater. He's gotten better; but he's still a nut.

I doubt Thunder could avoid getting banned at JREF. His ego is huge.

I loled at Voice of Reason saying we have ignored the new ZG1 pdf.

Personally I would have bothered if someone actually tried arguing something from it or it actually had something new in it. But otherwise I would just be repeating things over and over again most of which can easily be debunked just on this website's original debunking by Edward W, so I wonder why I need to bother. Im much busier with work these days, so it would just be a waste of time at the moment.

There's absolutely nothing new in it, just idiots trying to justify saying "the hijackers are still alive" and that hijackers that didnt exist but also trained at US bases by the government and the US government ignored warnings by foreign governments of a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda that also doesnt exist.

If any Zeitgeisters actually want to come and debate the points in that ridiculous PDF I know I'll gladly be here to tell them just how full of shit the 911 section still is. Im sure others will pick apart the other parts if anyone tried that with the other sections as well. Simply using it as a Bible apparently is what they would rather do.

TZM might be able to come across as a legitimate charity or NGO if it weren't for their refusal to abandon the Trutherism stuff.

Bey hey, movies aren't the Movement and all that shit. Also 911 was an inside jobbyjob. Also we are not a conspiracy Movement.

Too bad we all know that charity is just "patchwork" to them, save your dollars for Frescos DVD pack and sending him abroad to do lectures and CDR's to burn Zeitgeist on and hand them out to people. :D So I think they'd be easily shown to be full of crap as a charity as well.

They can't get past the fact that Acharya S. is not a reliable source. For anything.

Even if the points she makes had any validity, those same points would be echoed in legitimate historical literature by legitimate academics. They could still support those points by citing those legitimate academics without having to resort to a tainted source. But no legit academics support any of what she says, so they're forced to try to find ways to make her look legitimate because no one else will say what they want to believe.

The guide presents nothing new at all.

If she was actually cited by anyone in the same area I would have more respect for her work, but as far as I know no one has done that at all.

Man, that is some stupid local news station. Probably had some woo-woo believer working there that arranged it. I am not impressed.

"They can't get past the fact that Acharya S. is not a reliable source. For anything."

No, they never well. Because she is outside of the "mainstream" and these are people who shun anything "mainstream" just for the sake of doing so. I can understand that to a point, but when it comes to certain things like science, history, mathematics, etc if you only listen to shit outside of the mainstream its going to be garbage.

That's why with TZM you have far lefties rubbing shoulders with Holocaust deniers like Pendrokar and Nanos.

Matt, I doubt they had some woo believer arange it but they did seem rather skeptical. To me it was one of those odd little but nice stories they have in-between the horrible news of stabbings and the Iraq war and the recession. ie. a bit of fluff. And you got to admit, it is interesting fluff for that kind of story :D

My point is that it was a local TV station and TZM freaks out about any mention of TVP or TZM related stuff, even if its some stupid thing that no one is going to hear or even remember if they do. For instance, they all got boners when NPR mentioned some French singer namedropping Merola and his movies (THE MOVIES ARE NOT THE MOVEMENT OMG!). I listen to NPR podcasts quite a bit and I never hear jack about TZM.

Haven't you heard, it's because there's some vast academic conspiracy to make sure Jesus remains "real" to people.

The academic conspiracy is the stupidest part, because it's so obviously not true.

CT's always think of academics as a herd who think collectively and are extremely motivated by peer pressure. It's just not true. Academics love to be iconoclasts. If there is any even remotely defensible way to take a contrarian position, someone WILL do it. Getting academics to agree on anything is like herding cats. Spend 20 minutes in a university department meeting and you'll see that instantly.

CT's also think there's some sort of Banhammer of Death for academics who step out of line. There isn't. Especially once you're tenured you can't be removed, unless you rape nuns and piss in their hollowed eye sockets in full view of the Board of Regents or something. Writing a paper about how Christ didn't really exist, IF there is any conceivable evidence to support that, would not get a historian or anthropologist in the slightest bit of trouble with anyone.

So the fact that no academics are saying what Acharya S. is saying is prima facie evidence that what she says is bullshit. If there was anything to it, somebody legitimate would be saying it.

Great post Muertos.

Only in Zeitgeister World can a person believe that someone like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens or Sam Harris wouldn't love to have the sort of trump card against religion that Acharya S claims to.

Serious atheists don't believe Acharya S because they're somehow useful idiots for some grand conspiracy to protect religion. Serious atheists don't believe in Acharya S because she is either:

1) Crazy
2) A liar
3) Both

But hey, Zeitgeisters want to believe that you can get some sort of hidden knowledge from a paperback on Amazon.

It's super simple, and I get accused of it all the time, I'm actually a closet Christian or at least a Christian Apologist.

Her followers also love to talk about how I'm some guy in denial and I'm "the worst thing to happen to freethinkers." Yes, the worst.
