Basically, Zeitards started a collapse porn thread talking about how horrible everything is. Another poster linked the Stephen Pinker talk on the history of violence in an attempt to show them that violence is actually on the decline. That video happens to be one of my personal favorite TED talks (no, I'm not the poster).

Hilarity and paranoia ensue. These guys want the world to burn and they're not interested in anyone or anything that says otherwise.

Just...grotesque. That's all it is. These people are not compassionate...they are narcissistic ideologues who really don't care about other people. They just want to be right. And even if their disgusting fantasies came true, they'd just prance around yelling 'I TOLD YOU SO LOL' instead of actually helping people.

As I was reading through the thread I came across this in one of the replies:
"Go watch the real news, not the corporate owned lame-stream media."
Now I know that they're always blasting mainstream media but it raised a question that I'd never really given much thought. What do they consider to be real news? Aside form Alex Jones and CT websites.

these films ignore a key economic concept: cost. It'd be nice to organize the world in a certain way and raise every human to have the healthiest possible value system, but it's also very costly. To do that, basic economics tells us we'd have to forego other valuable opportunities.

That's what I tried to tell them, too. So did hex on VTV's forum, but it's a waste of time. They're incapable of grasping the concept, although it's not even contradicting their RBE thingy, it's just another variable for the magic supercomputer to deal with.

@Alexa

They consider real news to be anything that agrees with them. So mostly CT sites (like RT), but I'm sure if the mainstream media says anything remotely negative about the economy, then it's right too.

If you think about it, this movement is the only movement there is that does pose any threat to the 'elite' it isn't a malicious threat but it's the only one that poses any threat to their elite status and this movement is growing. So I would be very surprised if we haven't drawn any attention yet. The system collapsing is creating a lot of desperation to keep the masses under control one way or another.

This really made my head hurt. Try to believe that the world is collapsing, that there's a homogeneous "elite" trying to halt this process and that TZM is threatening them in any way and you're still one illogical belief short of being this Zeitgeister.

Oh yes they WANT "the world to burn" most definitely.

They think the only way to get a RBE in is for the world to "collapse" first, reminds me a lot of religious fundamentalists waiting for the second coming. They are always trying to look for signs that the collapse is imminent

What I don't get is why any of them honestly think people are going to consider RBE "after collapse", especially when 99.99999% of humanity has never even heard of it.

Because they're True Believers. If they want an RBE, naturally everyone else must want it too.

UFO nuts are like this too, thinking that the aliens are waiting around here to save us when the world falls apart and goes into calamity.

In fact its one of those generic themes that traverse all CT groups

It's surbitonpete, he's the guy who called the libertarian a government agent. You'll have a hard time finding a Zeitgeist member more paranoid, delusional and blindly loyal than him.

Yeah, I'm sure you could find someone to beat pete in that fight, but if you're looking for an old-timer to reliably give you a stupid answer, ask the mods before making any big statement or just subtly telling you that his whole family is sick of him talking about TZM, he's a good choice.

The whole thread is pretty weird though, one guy is explaining the lack of depth of contemporary cost models as if TVP would offer any alternative to them. It's like hearing someone say "Look, current car manufacturers really don't focus on corrosion on the subframe enough, but I've heard there's this guy called Nanos who is working on a real sweet solar car".

Isn't Surbitonpete some crazy British dude on welfare. I remember reading a post once about how he didn't work and was on the dole for disability. I wonder if its for mental illness, because that guy is really out there.

Also, Eissenberg says, it's not very clear what smokers are getting when they take a drag on an e-cigarette. In a study published in July, Eissenberg and colleagues had 32 smokers take puffs on two brands of e-cigarettes, the NPRO with 18 mg. of nicotine and a model from Crown7 with 16 mg. Each smoker took 20 normal puffs, with a short break after the first 10. The study found that electronic cigarettes did reduce the urge to smoke, but, importantly, neither brand delivered measurable amounts of nicotine to the users' bloodstreams. Eissenberg suspects that the devices are so similar to cigarettes that they can help fill the psychological urge to smoke even if they don't provide much nicotine.

Why am I not surprised a Zeitard would buy into a scam like e-cigarettes.

I've been hoping to get more fights between TZMers and libtards, but our government agent left and the last pages of the thread were rather dull. One statement caught my attention though:

Scarcity resulted from money is not an axiom; it's a fact.

I think I want a "Why do people laugh at TZM" thread.

I guess the argument is that e-cigs don't allow for much nicotine absorption. I was thinking about getting one for nicotine-free juices, just for flavor.
