No really :-)

http://www.kiva.org/team/the_zeitgeist_movement</p>

Started out as a small team of 2 or 3 people I remember, and look at it today, 10 folk and they have lent to 50 different people more than $1,000

Actual real development and progress, something to be proud of.

Just a shame that whenever it was mentioned on the TZM forum it was always put down as money = evil and not something to encourage..

I had hoped TZM would create its own microfinance site, but oh well, I guess the several million sitting in the back pockets of the 400,000+ Z folk is better off just sitting there, or spend on blank DVD's than actually improving anyone else's life today..

Its also a shame that there is rather a lack of microfinance sites to help western countries..

Why should everyone else get the help and not us!

Its a conspiracy I tell ye :-)

Well, at least they're doing something other than sitting around on their asses complaining about conspiracies or heaping praise on Merola.

This looks like something unofficial. Did Lord Peter authorized this representation? I agree Nanos. It would be cool to see more microfinance sites for the west, but it looks like whoever starts one like Kiva in countries like the UK and US will need a good bit of planning and legal stuff to follow since they won't be broker, they can't charge interest, and you don't want to be lending money for illegal activity.

As far as I'm aware of, its unoffical. (Otherwise my posts about it wouldn't have been deleted and people getting awfully upset and calling it a scam..)

Its on my todo list to start one in the UK if no one else does.

I know mentioning it here risks it being told it cannot use that name, but equally its possible it might get offically sanctioned and then the place could flood with Z folk intent on helping the world like people are already doing.

Also, as here is read by some folk, it might also increase the number there, whilst still flying far enough below the radar to function with its existing name.

But at the end of the day, changing the name if need be, wouldn't devalue what the people have done there, and the resultant publicity from PJ telling them off would just help the cause. (At least thats my hope, its a win win no matter what happens..)

I don't think "Zeitgeist" is a trademark name. I also believe they follow the Creative commons stipulation as well. so far I think it's legal what this group is doing.

Man, they could've bought so many Jacque Fresco busts with that money.

And still Z folk are coming up with ideas to improve things by making money;

I thought the idea was quite good myself, but as per usual, TZM isn't into making money this very moment, not at least until PJ starts to with his film, then I guess it will be ok, right ?

Or will it be a case of, one rule for PJ and no one else allowed to make money to help..

Guess we will have to wait and see.
