Level: 0 CS Original | Oh no wait, they don't.. http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20827814.800-the-green-city-that-has-a-brain.html?page=1 > There's a city system being constructed in Portugal over the next year or so. Hurray! > Looks very similar to many of the ideas Jacques Fresco has, and it's being made! Good, good.. > Looks like the tour hype might have gotten through to someone with access to What about the 400,000+ TZM members, wouldn't they have the collective resources... > I hope it all goes well and they do have it fully built by 2015 Shock horror! they want to see communities built.. I thought they was against them being built ? > it would be another good example for the case we are trying to make Good, sensible commment that. > This reminds me when the movement first got started when so many people thought Yes, thats right! > This organization wants to ignore how crippling the monetary system is and they might Not every attempt fails, this one is 40 years old and managed ok. If only Fresco talked more about his failure, we might spot where he went wrong. Just because some fail, doesn't mean one should not attempt something. > They found that investors bailed once they realized that efficiency won't bring I wonder where one can read more about that, as I hadn't heard about investors before. Though I can quite understand, as when I talk to people with money, they express an interest, which quickly disappears once they realise there isn't a big fat quick profit in it.. > Honestly though I wish them success. Thanks for the post. Thats good to know, though I wish the same sentiments would extend to TZM folk also trying to build communities... > Once people realize the happiness and efficiency of life inhabitants have, I want to build! I've heard how Findhorn is nicer than the average place to live, I want to live in a place like that! Only it would go quicker if a few more folk worked on it, perhaps 400,000+ folk working on it could make it happen really damn fast.. Ah, some sensible debate on the subject: > I am really not sure what to make of it with the monetary system versions of Yes, this is a concern of mine, having looked at various such communities, it is a common theme that the rich folk live within, and the poor workers live outside in less than ideal conditions.. I would want to build a community where both the rich and the workers live in the same community and there is less difference between them. It would also save on the need for lots of people to commute as well.. > That would be the best idea there could be things that jacque knows that would help Yes but he isn't going to tell them is he! I don't think he's told me anything helpful for my own efforts.. (He doesn't even hang out on his own forums to answer technical questions..) > It is still better than not having a self-sustainable city. Whoops a sensible comment, better what that guy, could be a trouble maker! So, in essence, some TZM folk support the idea of building things, but for some reason, its got to be someone else doing it, they cannot help themselves, nor can they allow TZM resources to be used to help build said communities, if you want to build one, setup your own forum.. Such a pity they are being held back by being told, now isn't the right time, please continue to be homeless and penniless whilst we wait and watch others building the future... There is no real need to spread the word, people already know they want something better, they are just waiting for someone to build it! Excuse me whilst I go and start digging foundations... | |||||
