Note:

> he has "beaten" SimCity by creating the max stable population of six million

If we instead designed not for max population, how different could the solution be ?

As my thinking is, we shouldn't design for a max population, but max happiness, which would probably mean less than a max population..

Reminds me of:

Has he had any success with that ?

I guess he didn't talk about that on the TZM forums did he ?

Nah, he's just on some paid blogging sites.

Regarding the city:

That's what I'm surprised TZM doesn't get: Science can only be used if you have a goal, something you're looking for. That guy was looking for maximum population and found the best city possible for that.

"Maximum happiness / sustainability / freedom" or whatever we'd actually look for in a city is not only hard to measure, but also so broad that you'll most certainly get arguments among the "interdisciplinary teams" about what the "right" definition of the TVP cities goal actually should be.

My definition of happiness is a society without Nanos.

Indeed.

Perhaps we can list what would be happiness factors.

I might suggest plenty of parking spaces to be one. (I hear up to 30% of traffic in the centre of a town is people going around and around looking for parking!)

Seats wide enough on public transport to be comfortable with enough leg room..

I know. My "TVP debunked" thing was tongue-in-cheek.

Maybe you should do a study

For...which town?
