Level: 6 CS Original | Srsly, I don't get it. I've been debating the collapse with a fellow Zeitguy for half an hour now - explained how the housing bubble was created by bundling and shifting of wobbly mortgage bond towers, how the shorting of them via buying "insurance" increased the ability to create even more financial product, and that at some point the whole thing exploded, making a few guys very, very rich and ruining the banks involved with the junk. I also explained how an overabundance of investor capital posed a necessity for these fraudulent products in the first place, and that this might be a point to argue with - something that actually involves capitalism and not the regulations of wall street. But I'm not getting a single argument back, no, it started with peak oil, then it was poisoning and poverty, then WWIII, now it's automation and perpetual consumption - wait, I also got debt and fiat money. 90% of these theories are so fucking stupid that it makes me feel like a moron, when I go through the last 10% seriously. Why is it that the doomsdayers always choose quantity over quality? Why make 8 bad arguments and 1 mediocre one instead of one well-crafted point? | |||||
