Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | Also, Elm, in no way was my comment some personal attack against you or anyone. It was a way to illustrate the absurdity of people freaking out over body scanners. As if someone who has to sit behind a screen and see fat people all day is a job to be envied or that he or she would ever remember anyone specific out of the hundreds if not thousands of other vague, naked people they see every day. The pat downs seem ridiculous, yes. The body scanners do not. You send out more personal information about yourself every time you purchase something with anything other than cash or even browsing the web than you do walking through a body scanner. No one complains about that though, at least no one rational does. So I just don't buy this whole invasion of privacy issue. I think people are coming up with Luddite complaints about privacy because they think anyone wants to see them naked in the first place or would care to remember them if they did.

I don't deal well with shrillers Level: 1 CS Original | I know your comment was not directed at me personally Matt as I don't have any photos of myself on here, I am 5'2" and weigh 165lbs currently. It probably went up due to the fact that all I am eating right now is mashed potatoes because I have had 16 teeth removed and am getting dentures. I am just sick and tired of how fat people are portrayed and how fat people are demoralized and demeaned in the media and how people are still brainwashed that "thin is in" and the only way to be attractive is to be thin. It can be quite damaging to one's self esteem when constantly bombarded with this type of propaganda. Which is why there are higher rates of anoerexia amongst women and girls because the media and society as a whole is brainwashed to think that the ideal body is to be rail thin with flawless features.

Ordo Ab Chao. Level: 8 CS Original | Ah, obesity, a touching issue. Personally, people are fat due to their lifestyle, which is determined by some factors you can't really blame them for. It's VERY cheap to be fat, compared to relatively expensive to be healthy. :/

Paid Disinformation Blogger Level: 14 CS Original | If it's any consolation, Elm, my boyfriend is quite portly, and that's exactly the way I want it. I vastly prefer guys with considerable extra pounds to skinny waifs, and I have also been with women who are heavier than popular culture would suggest is "attractive." I don't believe that "rail thin with flawless features" is particularly attractive in either gender. Nor am I an outlier. There are a huge number of people who prefer the heavier set. Don't take what popular culture purports to promote as gospel truth. Real people like a much greater variety than marketing executives or popular magazines would have you believe.

Level: 5 CS Original | "I'm still looking for an explanation as to why body scanners constitute an invasion of privacy." It isn't because we aren't forced to fly. When you choose to fly, you do so through your own free will knowing that these scanners are there.
