ok, first of all, im not a big meat eater, i never was, and as of recently ive cut back on the meat even more, i pretty much avoid eating it, especially the highly processed type..
i did it because its pretty clear that we humans dont NEED meat in order to survive, were even better off not eating it, because it is potentially hazardous to our health, especially with all the stuff they feed animals today and all the anti-biotics, growth hormones etc.

ive also seen Earthlings, ive seen what we humans do to animals, and its a disaster, seeing that film made me wish a meteor would hit and just wipe us off the face of the earth,
if i was standing next to one of those guys that was smashing little pigs heads on concrete floor, and if i had i gun, i would be very tempted to blow his fuc*ing brains out.. animal cruelty really really pisses me off..

That's why I try to eat free-range. It costs a little more but at least I know it wasn't pumped full of hormones or killed in a grotesque manner. Plus it helps out American farmers which are responsible for the majority of our export.

The day we start having to import wheat, I know we are officially fucked as a country. Until then, I think we are relatively okay.

Congratulations for having enough money for such an act, Matt!

Unfortunately, most people don't care, because they're not earning enough to opt for healthier, more expensive foods.

Ditto on your animal cruelty point though.

Uh, I eat meat because I'm an omnivore. Yeah, I was quoting.

"Free-range" is a joke term created by the same companies that sell factory farmed livestock to sell products to gullible ideologues.

Haven't read it, but I'm pretty sure some guy will say how great in-vitro meat will be, just after he trashed GMO crops.

* <3 GMOs
* Don't care about hormones
* I like things cheap, so I don't eat free range unless someone else is paying for it.
* Animal cruelty is wrong, but animal worship is silly. A lot of people like the OP treat animals better than humans.

I just looked it up, and sure enough, tons of Google hits on "the free range myth." So much for being being a do-gooder.

If a chicken has a view of the outside world, its considered "free-range." Whether or not the chicken cares enough to explore that outside world doesn't enter the equation, and often the chicken continues to peck and scratch exactly where it is inside.

Probably because they're chickens and they're stupid. A chicken doesn't care whether its free-range or not. Its just a chicken. It doesn't have the capacity to care.

Haha.

But in fairness, apply that to a pig which is significantly more intelligent. Unless it just wanted to lay around and wallow in it's own muck, you'd think the pig would appreciate it a little more.

Some animals exist to be eaten. I'm not particularly concerned about their welfare simply because I don't have enough energy to do so. That is why I donate to organizations that have the time and energy to do so.

Well alright I don't really care how much hormones are pumped into the meat I eat. I eat a lot of meat, matter in fact it's hunting season in ohio and I got myself two deer (one doe, one buck). The best meat I taste is probably the best meat I have just killed. I like to taste a piece of the wild in the meat I cook, which means I love my meats bloody *drools* (emphasizing steaks).

>>if i was standing next to one of those guys that was smashing little pigs heads on concrete floor, and if i had i gun, i would be very tempted to blow his fuc*ing brains out.. <<

I find this a interesting. Maybe instead of blowing their brains out maybe sautéing parts of their brain and eating it would put things in perspective for them.

Hm. I have a 9 month old and she doesn't like the taste of meat. Both our GP and nutritionist assured me that I have to find some creative ways of feeding it to her as it's important for the development of a baby.

Also, meat = delicious.

I don't care if the first light a chicken sees is the light in my oven. Contrary to what most of these nutbags think, no other chickens will miss or grieve for the frozen one in the shop.

If it's wrong to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?

The answer to the world's food supply is local organic farming, corporations are evil. Also, avoid corn because cavemen didn't eat it.

If I can continue to contribute to the cliche, insipid slogan canon...

Government doesn't create jobs.

I thought I was contributing to cliche, insipid slogans. You think a Paultard would call one of his commandments an insipid slogan? Wouldn't they be kicked out of their church? I'm not sure how you missed that.

In the future, I will refrain from sarcasm. I thought maybe advocating following what cavemen did would make the sarcasm more obvious.

But for the record, do you think anything that changes what we do today as a clueless utopian idea?

Nope, because I believe that organizations like Amnesty International, the Gates Foundation, Classroom Law Project, World Wildlife Fund, the Native American College Fund, Marathon Education Partners, Human Rights in China, and numerous other groups are the ones who are changing the world every day, and somehow their people don't believe in ludicrous utopian bullshit they read on the Internet.

lol, that's such utopian nonsense. You think Gates is going to end malaria! What a joke! And you have to be kidding me about the Native American College Fund. What do they know about education funds. I love people who just sit on the internet and name non profits. You are delusional. Marathon Education Partners was the best. They don't know how to run marathons.

That's the true test of how much you care: whether you are willing to do without in order to help someone else.
