 Level: 3 CS Original | I wanted to create a thread about Michael Ruppert. The only thing I really know about him is that he is a retired police officer who makes claims about CIA drug trafficking, 9/11 conspiracy theories, and Peak Oil. His name seems to come up a lot lately, he was just in a documentary called Collapse and it looks like he is going to be in the next Zeitgeist movie. Does anyone know more about Ruppert and his claims? | |||||

 Level: 9 CS Original | The only place I've seen this name was in a forum or blog post on this site where that Ben fellow called in complaining about Edward and the quote from Alex Jones cuts off at "but now back to what Michael Ruppert was saying..." or something to that effect. "Collapse" is available on-demand last time I checked, might give it a go. | |||||

Level: 3 CS Original | We won't literally "run out of oil in just a few years," but our society could enter a cascading failure mode if the supply starts to decline. BTW, the Peak Oil debate has several advantages over the global warming debate. We can empirically measure the world's oil supply; and nobody rational disputes that oil fields deplete, and that human behavior causes the depletion. By contrast, the climate change debaters haven't even agreed on analogous things. They disagree on how to measure climate change, whether it has even occurred, and if so, whether human activities have caused it. | |||||

"If the monetary system wasn't an issue, you could put parachutes on every plane... that is right! Not just on the seats of the passengers, but on the plane itself. Somehow finds a way to blame the monetary system on the fact that we can't apply parachutes to planes. Classic.
