I stumbled across this video while trying to find documentaries debunking Icke or Jones, but found more conspiracy theory nonsense than anything else:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GqejnPfZ4E

The video is just fine in the beginning...And then finally at 4:10 you see who is behind the video. Apparently the fact that we evolved from apes is part of the elites agenda to remove the Christian religion from the books to make room for...Wait for it...SATANISM! Then the video shows you images of the Secret with the text, "You are God" (Which is true.), "The elite created religion for control", and all of this is apparently proof of the fact that "If you believe any of that, then you have fell into the trap of a wordly agenda." = If you walk away from our silly idiotic religion, then you have fallen for the agenda of...SATAAAN!

(5:09-No religion? No belief in Christ? Apparently this will make humans go: "We don't have to be good." A lot of Atheists have probably heard this one before.)

Maybe it's just me but I get worried about videos like these. There is a lot of anti-occult propaganda out there right now thanks to blogs like Vigilant Citizen and Davic Icke talking about reptilians taking part in...Wait for it...Satanic orgies!
It seems like we are going to be repeating the witch hunts all over again.

why is it that christians believe everything to be part of a satanic elitist agenda except the idea that some bearded dude up in the sky created everything, after all if the elite is behind "everything" isn't it possible they created religion as well?

Even as an Atheist, I've never believed the "religion was created to control people" thing. Religion definitely has been used to control people, there's no question about that, but it's origins are extremely complex. You mix that with human's instinct to be afraid of the unknown, and you've got a mix that creates TNT of stupidity, such as when people believe Satan is under every bed, in every record, in foreign foods, etc.

Most importantly, if there really are orgies going on, please give me an address.

Agreed. The whole "religion was created to control people" seems to be the type of thing some angst-ridden 14 year old kid who just 'discovered' atheism would say or something like that. It completely ignores all those social factors of human behavior that contribute (and continue to contribute) to the formation of religious ideas.

Edit:

@Anouk: Any luck finding those documentaries? I think most rebuttals come in the form of articles lacking all the flash and pizazz of CT films.

Suburban, too many reasons to list. It's easy to blame Satan for everything rather than oneself.

Edward, yeah but they also sacrifice humans in these orgies. :P Proof? Icke ain't got any! You should check the icke forum and the satanism side of the forum. Lots of "good" stuff there.

Christians are waiting for the end of days, the apocalypse and for the Antichrist to appear. Just by reading some of their psychotic posts at some forums, they seem to WANT the end of the world to come...Doesn't this sound a bit like a death-cult? Or is it just me?

The Antichrist, according to them, will bring in a new religion and this will make people turn their backs on Christianity. All who fall for the agenda of the Antichrist (in the documentary: Elite) will of course end up in hell. That will be the Jews, the Muslims, Pagans...Everybody who does not follow Jesus. Nice peaceful religion right here...

The video I posted is basically saying that this is the agenda of the elite (destroy Christianity) so that they can bring in the religion of the Antichrist. I guess this religion includes the dreaded common sense, which these extremists so dislike.

What I find to be amazing about the video is how they have turned upside down so many different conspiracy theories. The Elite apparently is behind the symbolism of the the Zodiac + Jesus and his 12 apostoles and other obvius similarities Christianity shares with paganism, Mithraism and other religions. This is (according to the vid) done on purpose by the elite so that the new religion of the Antichrist can be brought in with ease. (People will see the similarities between Christianity and old pagan religions and will realise that they have been fooled = thus walking away)

Pretty amazing huh? I wish I had an imagination this grand. I would just write a book!

Sil, I found videos discussing Ickes theories but sadly they weren't good enough. Im still waiting for someone to completely debunk him in every possible way so that his insane followers will finally see the through his shenanigans.

Primarily American protestants believe in the tribulation and so forth, the vast majority of Christians in the world don't, and realize that the Book of Revelation is an allegory for Christians under the boot of Rome, rather than some magical future. The "end times" talk is fairly rare outside the US, but it has been on the rise since the 1980s, especially after the popularization of the Internet. It also doesn't help that, while a minority, they're also the loudest of the bunch.

Yes, end times stuff has definitely been on the rise for quite some time. It's funny that it has really bled into the mainstream (2012/Mayan calendar, planet X/Nibiru, Y2K, a million history channel shows, so on). Much of the time, god or religion is not even mentioned.

I actually got to take a class called "American Eschatology in pop culture", or something like that. Easy A.

Also, I don't even think most American Christians believe in rapture/end times. I'm only basing that on personal experience though. I know more atheists/agnostics, actually, that believe in conspiracy theories, aliens, and 2012 stuff. EDIT: Many of those atheists are atheists for irrational reasons though.

I think the true mark of an Icke follower is immunity to reasoning.

I'm not sure exactly how to debunk that someone is secret a lizard from another dimension. The only thing I can think to do is find the origin of this stuff and talk about it.

On the other end of the spectrum, you find Michael Tsarion, a big time CT, who feels that occultism is actually a positive thing. His mother was a Tarot reader, or psychic, or something like that.

A great deal of the occult bashers have been thoroughly debunked by former Vancouver PD detective Brian Ennis, who under the pseudonym Kerr Cuhulain has written many articles and a very good book on the subject.

@Anouk - Not quite a thorough debunking, but in Bill Maher's movie Religulous, there was a deleted scene where he spoke with David Icke. It's on the DVD's special features, but you can also find it on YouTube. Pretty entertaining stuff.
