My sister told me today that my 28 year old niece has a cancerous brain tumor (a low-grade glioma) and that she will be having surgery & chemo & radiation so I sent her the link to this movie and this is what she wrote back to me:

"Jayme - I appreciate the sentiment but I'm not going to watch any videos or read any articles about how horrible standard cancer treatments are. I understand that the medications used for chemotherapy are toxic and that radiation is, you know, radioactive. I have faith in Katie's ability to research the options and make her own decisions. Thanks but no thanks.
Love, Laurie"

It really amazes me how closed minded people can be. I also sent it to my niece so maybe she will watch it so she knows there are alternatives.

So this is what my sister said when I wrote back to urged her to be more open minded & watch the movie. LOL

"OK, now you have pissed me off. I am not closed minded. I watched the first several minutes and quit when I got to the part where the man is describing the horrible death of his child. What the fuck Jayme, you really think that's helpful? Katie doesn't even have a complete diagnosis yet and you have presumed the worst. I am trying to remain optimistic. I do not need any information about charlatans who make money by tricking gravely ill people into buying unproven treatments. The man is a quack who consistently misrepresents his qualifications. A cursory search of the web brings up plenty of information that disproves his bullshit theories. I DON'T NEED THIS KIND OF "HELP" AND NEITHER DOES KATIE. Fuck off and keep your god damned links to yourself."

I liked the "LOL" part, Zeitards are truly socially retarded.

So how many people have been cured by these alternative methods? What's the clinical proof?

I try to stay fairly open-minded about these things, but the guy got sued several times* for selling non-approved medication (and also fraud) and his trials haven't been updated in over a year.

He simply can't know the validity of his treatment without conclusive phase II² trials, so promoting it at this point is just not okay, especially not as an "alternative".

*http://bulk.resource.org/courts.gov/c/F3/27/27.F3d.153.93-2071.html#fn2<br /> ²Phase I has been completed, but that simply means that the drug isn't toxic or otherwise harmful in its used dosage.

Wow. That's pretty sad. What kind of jerk does that to family? I'm extremely open minded when it comes to alternatives; I believe in possibilities but A) anecdotal evidence doesn't cut it with me and B) just because I'm open doesn't mean you can hand me a plate of horse shit and tell me that it's prime rib.
I've had people pull the same crap on me for taking painkillers. A much less serious issue healthwise but no less annoying. I always end up wanting to slap some brains into them.

"Also check out Dr SImoncini's sodium Bicarbonate treatments. There are many people who have cured stage 4 terminal cancer with little more then three cups of water with baking soda a day. Including Brain and bone cancers."

^and how come this has failed to get into medical journals? Hmmm...

Oh wait, no it's because of the big conspiracy to suppress a cure for cancer. Can't have anything to do with the fact that it doesn't work. But what mechanism could this POSSIBLY work?

Also, can't take into account that differences cancers...are...well...different.

Forget the medical journals for a moment. If this actually worked it would spread like wildfire. Hundreds of hundreds of people would start trying it. Eventually everyone would personally know someone that used this and cured their cancer. Everyone. You can't cover up something like that. It would be in every inbox, on every facebook and myspace page, on every personal blog, every tweet. The whole conspiracy argument is a fail just for that simple reason.

Dr. B has had something like four or five grand juries against him but only one indictment. Coincidently it was at the same time as his "drugs" were undergoing FDA trials so was he. I don't think he got convicted though. He has got quite the following, former patients come out and picket and testify on his behalf. So either he is a really good shyster or there is something to it. The efficacy of the treatment was overplayed, he made it sound like he cured inoperable brain cancer nearly 100% of the time but when you look at the actual results of some of the trials it is more like 30%. Impressive if it is true but not a miracle treatment.

@ Alexa

No no no, the big pharma companies also control all ISPs and web servers, so that no e-mails revealing the cure for cancer get through to anyone. They also own twitter and facebook so no one can write about it there either. They also own all blogging services and myspace, again, so no info can reach the masses.

Wow, that's one big conspiracy. Makes one wonder how it doesn't fall apart and why people believe big pharma can really cover anything up. Especially if it's as simple as baking soda in water.

Also, I second your question. :D

I'd also want to know if that 30% was going through any other kind of treatment. It's sort of like with prayer healing, if you pray a lot you'll think god healed you, rather than the treatments you were getting.
