My step dad wasn't a great father. In fact he took heroin, he made my mom's already difficult life (certified nut job along with an armload of self-esteem issues) harder than it had to be. But the one place where he was a good parent? He actually played with me. He got down on the floor to my level, he'd bust out some action figures, and we would goof off together for a while. He knew all my toys names, he knew what TV shows they were from, he knew all their catch phrases and super powers, etc.
My point?
The best way to keep kids happy and not stress out the parent?
Parents have to keep their inner child. They have to be in touch with their inner child long before they can be in touch with their outer child.

Lesson learnt there:

Its ok to get smacked out your head on drugs and sit and watch kids tv shows all day and slouch about doing nothing with the kids.

yup, if the junkie knows the names of all the characters on tv shows and can recite the punchlines they're ok.

So that pretty much covers 95% of the junkies out there. Prime parent material according to this zeitard.
