Ok. Well, I just got home from Occupy Seattle, cleaned up, and wanted to report to you on my experience there.

First thing I need to point out is that I do still support the Occupy movement.

Now, onto my observations.

When I arrived, sometime around 7 pm. They were doing the General Assembly. They were debating the proposal to send the groups demands to the Mayor of Seattle, and if those demands were met, they would move the occupation to City Hall. They debated for awhile, I even joined in, and I was against the proposal. Even though I will vote for Ron Paul, I also don't think that we should negotiate with Politicians.

Anywhoo, It came time for the vote, and they take votes by raising hands, and counting them. First they took the count for those for the proposal, which was 108. Then they took the vote for those against and it was 17. My side lost. Like they say though, this is what democracy looks like. You win some, you lose some.

Well, I walked away to explore the camp and to volunteer for the medical team, since I was a combat medic. Don't even get me started on trying to volunteer there. WTF?

So, after about 20-30 minutes, after most of the people who had voted for the proposal had left the area, those who voted against it,minus me, were attempting to amend the proposal, but not only amend it, they wanted to completely take the exact opposite stance. They spoke about it, had a little debate about it, and then took a vote, which, I admit, you could tell they passed the amendment just by show of hands.

Well needless to say, when the other people got back, they weren't exactly thrilled to hear what happened. Especially since they already posted it, and the Mayor was already reviewing it. Not to mention that the way it was done was extremely underhanded. It was almost like being in the Senate.

I guess they really do know what Democracy looks like.

Also a member of the camp was really drunk and was joking about robbing me and 2 others last night, and then he actually attempted to do it this morning, and someone else (or him)was stealing other occupiers stuff during the night. Other than that though, it was great. I met a lot of great people, I spoke with some about a Resource Based Economy, Some knew of TZM, and wondered how to join the Seattle Chapter. Hopefully they might get at least 1 out of it.

So all in all, Occupy Seattle has a lot of growing up to do, but they will make it. They have a lot of really good people there.

The robbing thing made me decide to GTFO and help get Occupy Tacoma on the ground.

Occupy Vancouver is co-organized by the leader of the local Zeitgeist chapter. They even have a video of him getting interview by CTV on the global Z-site.

that 53% tumblr is hilarious and sad for a number of reasons but not limited to
- people reveling in hard work (some working as many as 3 jobs) for the basic essentials in life
- people claiming to be so in control of their life and destiny but simultaneously lamenting their homes dropping 30%+ in value (BUT I DON'T BLAME ANYONE)
- people believing so hard in a system that is so, so much against them

I think my favorite one is the one in which someone claims to be empowered by working 3 jobs, one for tips at a country club. There's really nothing more empowering than working for people who most likely have nothing but contempt for you and will never have to bust their ass the way you do.
