Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | "Deciding which facilities get build when and how is much more complicated" That's where the magical artificial intelligence that controls the world's resources comes in. Of course, it doesn't exist yet nor will it exist anytime in the foreseeable future. But it sure sounds neat-o.

Level: 9 CS Original | "Who would invest? My guesses: The very first facility, I would think an university. The couple others after the first prototype, some rich fellas wanting to do some charity (?). The ones after that, groups of people, like the groups that get together to have a "transition town". And the mass-production ones in the end, the existing government, paid with taxpayers money. " W'elp, this sounds like a very through and well thought out and organized plan! I mean, you already have your list of investors: an unnamed 'university' probably, some 'rich guys', and then 'groups of people'! Boy do I feel dumb for doubting TZM/TVP.

Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | I don't blame Wurm. Fresco has been conning people for decades into believing that a magical utopia is only a sackful of cash away. He's just another mark to be pitied.

And since we are still in a money world, simple is "if there is money, do it"" "for now in the beginning" is stupid when you don't have a plan for later. And hoping that you'll come up with robots who do all work and never have any problem finding solutions to resource allocation problems (while maintaining hundreds of thousands of industries!) is just plain ol' idealism w/o any practical forethought.

Level: 0 CS Original | > It doesn't mean cheaper products because that company now has Why would the farms be unprofitable ? Instead of people paying for food from someone else who is adding profit on top of the cost of producing said food, it can be produced in house at the same cost and sold at cost, thus providing people with cheaper food. [ Mod Edit: Thread continued here: http://conspiracyscience.com/forums/topic/unprofitable-farms-contd ] > that a magical utopia is only a sackful of cash away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masdar_City</p> > the project is projected to cost US$22 billion and take some Same with housing, which accounts for more cost than food.. (Which is why I would do housing before food.) provide workers housing at cost price, rather than to make a profit, and you can pay lower wages, and workers can end up with more money in their pockets.

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho: porn star and five-time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion! Level: 150 CS Original | UAE is a great place where they censor the Internet and pornography is illegal. Did I forget to mention you can't criticize the government? It's weird how someone would think Masdar is a great place, when at the same time many of them repeat stupid rumors about the US government doing all of the above (and more), except there it actually happens. There's no real way to actually do zero-carbon and zero-waste without forcing people to use an extremely limited number of high priced products that are 100% renewable. If you do that, it would also mean that non-neutral items would have to be illegal, and that's just crazy. Did I mention UAE has debter's prison?
