Do they exploit or do they provide a product and service that people want?

Kids don't wake up one day and decide, "I want cheap fabric, fatty food, meaningless electronic games." They are attracted to what they see. If a child went to a mall for the first time and only saw high quality clothing, healthy food, and educational games, would the kids protest and demand an unknown alternative?

Once children are hooked on cheap, quick gratification, businesses exploit it - regardless of the long term consequences.

Why would Fresco be able to find investors for TVP when he has been unable to find investors before?

Interesting.

My experiences as a parent conflict with this analysis.

Sorry, it's still not clear to me what has happened.

Has Fresco proclaimed a radical new direction for the Venus Project, eschewing the anti-religious and anti-money aspects?

Muertos in short yes, he's revised is con job at a attempt to pull off a bigger heist.

TZM/TVP may be able to get endorsement with money if they got the right business as in a business perspective if TZm/TVP accumulate a lot of people with that cult like mind set it be good for business to go and put advertisement their, be it on the website etc....

Muertos, I only listened to the first segment. It seems like Fresco wants to appeal to religious groups and take donations for support. He's not advocating the addition of a monetary or religion system into his project.

"Matt, How so?"

Your analysis relies on kids making choices because of manipulation, totally disregarding personal taste.

I would agree with arron (on TZM/TVP) it's not a drastic change but they openly support donations/want to recruit religions now.

Personal taste comes after experiencing the choices.

Gonna need some proof of that claim. Because that simply isn't what I have experienced.

It's fair to say that we have intrinsic tastes. For example, little Johnny is born with a disposition for liking the color blue more than pink. He isn't born knowing this; rather, he will learn this through experience. Early on, see two shirts of said colors in his house and decide that blue is more appealing. He now knows that he prefers blue. If his mother only had pink shirts around the house and kept Johnny locked in the house, would he ever know that he prefers blue? Would he go up to mom and say, "I hate all this pink. I want something else, but I don't know what it is"?

Depends. He's only putting the theoretical aspects (Christians aren't practicing what they preach, big business is "blind" to the worlds problems) into practical strategies for promotion.

If handled more professionally and as an auxiliary strategy, I wouldn't have any problem with these.

What they want to do:

1) Package a presentation for religious people that shows how churches are corrupted by money and start a religious movements that puts the teachings of all religions into practice, in a humanitarian way

2) Send a young couple to corporations and tell them that the world isn't going to improve and that they can contribute resources to the research city to increase the standard of living for everyone. They will want to do that because rich people today will be considered poor by TVP standards.

That isn't proof.

Come on man, you know how this works.

Proof is that I didn't grow up with a craving for marijuana - I wanted it after I was exposed to it. I didn't grow up desiring Reese's Cups over Broccoli until I tasted Reese's Cups. And so on.

Other than that, I'll see what I can find in journals. I have no idea what to search for, but I'll look around.

No, because I don't like putting too much personal information on this forum. Crazy assholes read this shit.

Journals would suffice, or we can just discuss it on IRC later or something.

Talked to my boss.

We're both right.

It isn't an either or thing, but a combination of both genetics and experience.

It certainly is both; and as I said, I agree that taste can be intrinsic (though it can also be developed). My overall concern is that marketing focuses on making the quick buck, which is very easy when teens go with their impulses.

It's a combination of teens wanting quick fixes and the market supplying it. It isn't wrong; but I don't like it.

By the way - what proof did your boss offer?

Being a career clinical psychologist of decades.

Appeal to authority is not fallacious in this case.

No, I genuinely did desire proof. But when you said you didn't know what to search for in journals I figured I would just go to an authority rather than expect you to spend hours searching for an answer I wasn't really sure we actually disagreed on.

Seemed lame to send you out on a futile mission just to feel like I won an Internet argument.

I wonder if the next thing Fresco will tell TZM folk is that its a good thing if they all go out and start their own businesses..

> Btw, TVP told us to get lost.

Thats more than I ever got, I never got any replies to any emails I sent. (It wasn't clear they even ever got through, being that their inbox was clogged up for just about ages according to TankTop, who then never answered the repeated question of, 'is it unclogged yet', and whose helpers below him kept repeating in parrot fashion that the inbox was never broken and just to resend my emails, which I did..)

Their communication system is a little, lets say, poor..

Just ask the would be Cameroon's presidents wife how much effort they made to be helpful to them when they showed up on the forum asking for advice on how to impliment RBE in their country... (I was about the only person to offer any real practical advice, where was everyone else!)

Trouble is, its more tragic funny than funny funny, there was also in line for presidentship for the Philippines too, but I don't imagine they even saw him..

Several millionaires also wandered in and out of TZM too, also ignored for the most part.. (Well, I did meet one of them in person at a TZM meeting, but for some reason no one else seemed keen to chat to him.. maybe it was their hatred of money..)

There is dropping the ball, and there is not letting anyone else play with your ball and then wearing dark sunglasses with earplugs in, in case you might make friends..

So much oppertunity, so many missed chances, its a conspiracy I tell you! :-)
