The birther CT is perhaps one of the most annoying to me because it has become so integrated into the Tea Party Movement and even some Libertarian circles. What is so frustrating is that this CT is clearly built off of the "sore loser" mentality the right experienced in 2008. But today, I didn't focus on that aspect, but rather on two disturbingly stupid aspects of this CT.

How many Kenyan Birth Certificates are there?

What's amazing to me is that birthers will question the legitimacy of the Obama Hawaiian certificate of live birth. They will either declare it invalid or a forgery. However, any time a "Kenyan Obama birth Certificate" comes to light, they will jump on it as if it were "the smoking gun." But which one is the REAL kenyan Birth certificate?

This one?

or this one?

Maybe this one?

How many different kinds of Kenyan Birth Certificates are there, people?! I find it remarkable how little consistency there is in these forgeries.

But the bigger question is, how much are these attorneys who are representing Birther Lawsuits making? Simply by taking up any case that comes their way with a half assed forgery, they must be making a healthy living.

Oh, by the way: I was born in Kenya- my birth certificate is attached

I believe the birther nonsense was actually started by Hilary supporters.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Birther stuff started with Hillary supporters. They are rabid zealots.

I was a Hillary supporter in 2007 and early 08, before I jumped ship to Obama. I got all the emails and was pretty active at least in monitoring the campaign, and I don't recall hearing birther crap from the Hillary camp.

Funny, I used to date a guy who was a hard-core militant Hillary supporter. He thought Democrats should boycott the convention to protest Obama's nomination. He wrote in Hillary's name instead of voting for him. He thought Obama "stole" the nomination and the superdelegates should have stepped in to swing it for Hillary.

Does that make you feel better, Matt?

I'm not sure why Hillary appealed to him so much, but his feelings on Obama were uniformly negative. He said no one as inexperienced as Obama had ever been elected president (which is totally not correct, look at Lincoln).

He was a rabid animal rights advocate, so I suspect it may have had something to do with some not-very-high-profile position Hillary took regarding animals.

Referring to the origins of the birther claim:

"The rumor has it's roots in the original Obama Haters, the PUMAs - Party Unity My Ass. It was a splinter group of hard-core Hillary Clinton supporters who did not want to give up the ghost after the bitter fifty-state Bataan Death Martch to the Democratic nomination." (Avlon, 196.)

That's the only claim of origin I've heard so far on the matter.

I thought it was floating out in the Internet in mid/late 2007, then Jerome Corsi picked it up.

I suppose it's possible for many different groups of people to arrive at that conclusion and spread their misinformation independent of one another.
